ON MY MIND: PURPLE LIPSTICK + DIY SILK SCREEN? + GOOD OLE AMERICAN ART + FINAL PROJECTS!

So lately (does it seem like lately/all the time I start my sentences off saying "So lately...." hahaha) I really do! But honestly It seems like lately I've been into purple things and lipsticks! I really want to buy a couple! I have a few MAC shades in mind that I've been eyeing for a couple of weeks. If you've been reading this blog for the last couple of weeks you've seen when I made the 'everything blue' post and now I'm in love with 'everything purple' lol I guess I'm going through my color phases But now I'm really into everything purple (hence my on my mind post)

Hole 'Live Through This' album I've been tweeting on and on and writing #nowplaying tweets for months about this album even though it is from the 90s Its still amazing! every time I listen to it I feel bad ass like I can take over the world! I feel empowered! If you don't know who Hole is Its Courtney Loves' band :) LISTEN TO IT NOW!

So the quarter is almost up at my school is almost over theres 3 weeks left and final projects are coming into effect! With my Pattern Making class in mind I am so excited to be able to make my own pattern from scratch and design my own outfit! (and If your not really familiar with what pattern making is heres a little information about it!) Ok! So the assignment is to make a pattern and also design something that interprets an fine artist/any artist through actual fabric! I have a few things in mind but If I'm able to actually pull this through I will definetly show it on here! because I'm so excited! Just a little hint I'm trying to use an image from this book and interpret it into an outfit (this book is amazing by the way)

ON A LIGHTER NOTE...FINALLY INSPIRATION!!

I was at work earlier and was on my ipod and was searching youtube and all I seen this video that was featured on the screen that stuck out to me was "Berlin East Side Gallery" and I had to watch it...Like most of you know (who read this blog regularly) that I've been very uninspired to the point where It effected my personal life (weird right?) but it did...So Berlin has been on my mind as of most recently and especially the art in this video and also the art that i've seen around on blogs over the last year. Just street art in general has been very inspiring so I went to the library at my school and checked out an art book scanned photos this weekend! :)

Theres really some great stuff in there! Even though I said I'm inspired by "Berlin Art" and this is an "American Art"

MY WEIRD STYLING: TAKE 4

(FROM TOP RIGHT DOWN: RING: VIVIAN WESTWOOD | WATCH: NIXON | BRACLET: FRED FLARE | BOOTS: DOC MARTINS | BAG #1: ALEXANDER WANG | BAG #2: URBAN OUTFITTERS | HEELS: ALDO)

TAKE 3! ok So I was reading this book quite some time ago called Surfers, Soulies, Skin heads & Skaters and I loved the book so much I scanned the whole thing...well most of the pages that interested me and recently in one of my technical drawing classes we were sketching suit jackets and so this is how this "my weird styling" post came about the suit pictured above is called a "Zoot Suit"
A Zoot Suiter is (what is described in this book); A man who wore Zoot Suits, usually Black or Chicano Americans at the end of the 1930s. The term became more widespread through the 1940s among jazz musicians. The Zoot Suit was a highly exaggerated outfit which evolved from the traditional 1930s male two-piece. A long single-breasted drape jacket with wide shoulders, wide lapels and multi-buttoned wrists was worn over loose,high-waisted, pleated trousers tapered to very narrow pegs at the ankle. The look was finished off with wide-brimmed hats, and a watch on a chain worn hanging from the jacket.

So If I ever wore/or made this suit in a more modernized tailored manner I would wear it with these items and lets make this clear I would not wear all of those gold accessories all at once I would either pick one and be satisfied...I'm not an over accessorizing type of girl. I like things simple and not cluttered

Enjoy!

(by the way doesnt it always seem like I'm trying to throw some Doc's in there all the time?! OOPS!)
