Checkers

Today was a pretty hectic in a good sort of way today. Today I went to the fabric store to buy some fabric for Sheath dress with Princess cuts that I'm making in class and I didn't really think out what type of material I was going to use...what color or anything everything very random so I spent atleast half and hour looking around for fabrics so I see this big sign that read "cotton" so I head over towards that way and in the mist of me glancing at the assortments cotton I see this man with this black checkered nylon fabric that he had in his hands and automatically I think of Dries Van Noten's Spring 2009 collection and his use of 'boxes' in other words sort of chekerd effect with his silks that he used and I think to myself I've got to use this fabric and with my mom and grandmother playing the role of devils adovicate in my ear asking me why am I using black or why so plain (hence my blog lol) I sort of even judge myself on why I picked this fabric. But I must stay true to myself and pick what I want and what is my style. I've realized that I dont' really like bold prints or stuff that looks cheap. I'm not saying that I'm too good for them its just not my style. So next week when I go to class I will get started on my scoop neck practice dress and hopefully I'll get to show the results on this blog

*and please if you do read this post and you're really interested on the dress that I will be making in the next couple of weeks please note to self that I am not a perfessional and this will be my very first piece of clothing that I'll make so this is just the begining and also a practice garment that I really can't put my own twist on because my teacher just wants us to get the feeling of sewing before we add any sorts of detailing or anything so don't judge my skills on this first garment please :)

UPDATE!
I WASNT ABLE TO USE THE CHECKERED FABRIC INSTEAD I CHOSE PLAIN BLACK COTTON FABRIC SO THINGS WILL DIFFERENT FROM THE FABRIC I ORIGINALLY CHOSE, SORRY ITS ALL MY TEACHERS FAULT LOL

I'm sure it shall be BOMB , ma'dame . Lol
I'll be anticipating the results.

I'm sure no matter how you think it looks in the end you'll be like so satisfied being as how it's a product of your first garment. I can only imagine how self fulfilling it is, because I know just when I alter some things I feel really good ;)
