BLACK GIRL STEREOTYPES

Okay usually it doesnt happen to me often since I keep my friends and the people I hang with to a minimum but when I do get around ignorant people who judge me based on stereotypical opinions and what I should like. It really pisses me off! It makes me hate everything that goes along with those stereotypes. I strive be as far away as possible from them... Don't get me wrong I love being an African American(Black)
Don't get me on to the "Just because list" and alot of different ethnicity's can verify with me on this

JUST BECAUSE....

I'm black doesn't mean I listen to rap
I'm black doesn't mean I drink Kool-Aid
I'm black doesn't mean every and any black man on the street is my father
I'm black doesn't mean I have to smoke weed and drink all the time
I'm black doesn't mean I wear babyphat,south pole,etc urban clothing brands
I'm black doesn't mean I say "izzle" after all of my words (and trust me this still happens)
I'm black doesn't mean I don't know anything about anything
I'm black DOESN'T MEAN I KNOW EVERY FUCKING RAP SONG ON THE RADIO AND EVERY FUCKING DANCE THAT GOES ALONG WITH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
......etc
there's more to this list but I cant think of anymore right now that relate to me

But I'm sick of it and its not something that I can just wish away because people are always going to be ignorant, because they don't want to face the fact that people can be different and like other things besides what the world has stereotyped them as.

I'm different and its hard for me to relate with other people on what I like (especially in Dallas) where I live
I'm the kind of girl that Likes Hard Core 70s/80s Rock and Roll, 80's New Wave, Indie,Soul,Blues, I'm the girl who doesn't dress like everyone else, I don't do my hair all the time, I really don't care that much about my appearance...A real "Plain Jane" lol
but trust me I'm not boring at all!....

I just hate stereotypes...

Can we be bestfriends? I feel the same exact way. Its harder for a boy because you know Im into skinny jeans, rock and roll and fashion design. Its like because I dont know soulja boy and all his moves people laugh at me because Im listening to lady gaga or adele. Especially living in kansas city there is no one like me at all. So glad we understand eachtoher.

A-FUCKING-MEN!

I swear, working in fashion, people act like I can't possibly be worthy or know squat about "high fashion" because I'm black. the stereotypes and judgements based on my race are appalling.

to those ignorant people i say a hearty "f you!"

love to see so many fashionable black girls share the same sentiment! & i love your blog, too!
